There are millions of people walking around with crowns and bridges because these treatments are so quick, simple and useful. When we offer a patient a treatment plan to make their smile healthier or more attractive, we may include crowns and bridges as choices for their treatment.
For damaged teeth, a crown offers protection and for a weakened tooth, it offers strengthening. A tooth that was injured by impact may need a crown to protect it. We also advise patients to crown a tooth that has had root canal therapy. Crowns may also be used as part of a plan to improve the aesthetics of a smile by covering and protecting fractured teeth.
A bridge is offered when a single tooth or multiple teeth are missing. For one tooth or two in a row, a bridge can be anchored to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap with replacement teeth in the middle to fill the gap. Manufactured from durable ceramic, a bridge can last for many years.
